Integrated into my Home Assistant setup flawlessly

This was a fun weekend project. I was stoked to find the printer has a stable IP and responds to standard IPP requests on the network. I was able to write a simple Python script that pulls my orders from a database and sends them directly to the printer without even needing a print dialog. It's been running for two months and has processed over 600 labels this way with 100% uptime. For any other home automation nerds out there, this thing is a solid, reliable endpoint for your network. It's fast, and the driverless nature of it makes it perfect for custom integrations. A+ for hackability.

The ROLLO Killer? A Detailed Comparison.

I’ve used the wireless ROLLO for the last two years, and while it was a big step up from USB, its Wi-Fi was... temperamental. I'd say it needed a restart once or twice a week to be seen on the network. I bought the FreeX WiFiMAX based on claims of better connectivity, and I can confirm it's a significant improvement. I've had it for a month with zero dropouts. The setup was also more straightforward. But the REAL game-changer is the physical design. The ROLLO's need for an external label stand made it take up a huge amount of desk space (over 1/3 of my packing table!). The FreeX's all-in-one design with the internal 600-label roll holder is brilliant. It looks cleaner and saves an incredible amount of space. The print speed feels comparable, but the reliability and tiny footprint make the FreeX the clear winner for me. My only tiny gripe is the lid feels a little plasticky, but it's a minor point on an otherwise stellar machine.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a detailed review! We are thrilled to hear that the FreeX WiFiMAX has been a significant improvement for you, especially in terms of connectivity and physical design. We are constantly working to provide our customers with the best possible experience, and we are glad to know that our efforts are paying off. Thank you for choosing the FreeX WiFiMAX and for your feedback. We appreciate your support!

Beyond expectations

I bought this printer expecting decent performance, but the FreeX SuperRoll exceeded expectations. Setup on Windows 11 was literally plug-and-play—no drivers. I then downloaded the iOS AirPrint feature and printed directly from my iPhone in seconds. The 150 km print lifespan means I’ll likely replace the printer before worrying about supplies. The resolution at 203 dpi is crisp enough for product photography tags and QR codes. The built-in SuperRoll holder is stable and holds a ton of labels. It even survived a week-long power outage without losing settings. This printer feels built for the long haul.

Exorcised my inkjet demons

I used to dread shipping dozens of packages with my old inkjet printer—it clogged every few days, needed fresh cartridges mid-run, and the desk looked like an oil spill zone. Since I discovered the FreeX WiFiMAX SuperRoll in Feb 2025, it's been bliss. Out-of-the-box, I connected via AirPrint on iOS and linked my Windows 11 PC over Wi-Fi in under five minutes—no driver hunts. Printing at 170 mm/s and 203 dpi, the labels emerge crisp and smudge-free. The built-in SuperRoll holder eliminates external stacks required by ROLLO printers, freeing 70% of my desk space. Over 50,000 labels later, performance hasn't degraded, and using generic thermal rolls costs pennies compared to proprietary DYMO labels. This printer isn’t just a tool, it’s a liberation from inkjet frustration and label chaos. Plus, the whisper-quiet motor means I can print overnight without waking anyone in my home office.

Ok, I was wrong about WiFi printing...

I was 100% ready to hate this. My experience with WiFi devices is that they're always flaky. I was sure I'd be sending it back. But... it's been shockingly reliable. Connected to my Eero network on the first try and has never dropped off. I can print from my Mac, my wife's windows laptop, my ipad... it just shows up. I'm genuinely impressed. The only reason it's not 5 stars is the 'utility app' for windows is basically useless, thank god the core driver and AirPrint function are so solid you never actually need to open it.

The "River of Labels" Moment

I had a single order for 112 different items that needed to be packed and labeled individually. I was dreading it. With my old inkjet, it would've been an all-day nightmare. I loaded a big roll into the FreeX, pulled up the list on my iPad, and just started tapping PRINT... PRINT... PRINT. A literal river of perfect labels just flowed out of the machine. It didn't jam, it didn't overheat, it didn't miss a beat. The whole batch was done in 15 minutes. It was a rare moment where a piece of tech delivered 100% on its promise. Just incredible.

No more ink

Printing with thermal labels feels futuristic—zero ink means no more messy refills. I’ve tested various third-party rolls with the FreeX WiFiMAX, and every time it pops out a perfect, smudge-free label. My home office finally feels clutter-free and efficient.

FINALLY, a WiFi printer that works

I'm coming from a ROLLO wireless that I wanted to throw out the window at least once a week. It was constantly disconnecting from the network for no reason. I was skeptical of trying another WiFi thermal printer, but the FreeX WiFiMAX has been rock solid. It has not dropped the connection ONCE. The setup was easier, the connection is stable, and it's always ready to print from my PC. A huge upgrade.

Office game-changer

Our design agency switched to this printer in Jul 2025 and I can’t imagine going back. FreeX WiFiMAX’s universal connectivity meant our MacBook Pros and Windows PCs print via AirPrint or Wi-Fi without fuss. It handled all our label formats—from asset tags to shipping labels—at blistering speed and flawless 203 dpi clarity. The SuperRoll holder’s 600-label capacity eliminated mid-day reloads. No ink, no cartridges, compatible with any third-party thermal rolls. Best of all, the minimalist design fits our modern workspace. It's the most underrated office upgrade I've ever purchased.
